Take a look inside this month’s VIP magazine

The newest issue of VIP has finally hit the shelves. We are so excited for you to get your hands on this issue packed with some fab new beauty and fashion bits.

And of course, we have all the nominees for this year’s VIP Style Awards as well as some interesting interviews where we touched on topics like parenthood, politics, comedy, and sustainability.

This month’s cover star is the beautiful Bláthnaid Treacy.

We got to speak to Bláthnaid about pregnancy, parenthood, looking after herself and her thoughts on who the next Late Late Show host will be.

The RTÉ presenter got candid with us about her and husband Charlie’s excitement surrounding the imminent birth of their daughter describing it as magical, warm and downright wonderful.

The expecting mother is in the midst of her third trimester and in full on nesting mode, partly in thanks to the completion of their house renovations leaving her the time to get their baby girl’s room organised for her Summer arrival.

She mentions how she was bursting to share her pregnancy news so she would have someone to talk to.

To make things even better she gets to share the pregnancy with her best friend who she’s known since she was four years old: “My bestfriend is pregnant too, which is funny because we’re only about ten days apart! It’s amazing. We told each other very early on as well”.

She continued saying: “She [best friend] got married in August and then I was telling her we were going to start trying for a baby and she said they were doing the same.

We also got the chance to speak to Social Democrats leader Holly Cairns at her family farm in Cork.

The TD talked all things politics and where we’re headed in Ireland as a government-led country as she settles into her role as the first-ever female leader of a political party in Ireland and the youngest leader of a party presently.

When asked what she thinks of Irish politics at the minute she says: “I’m really excited because the tide is turning in Irish politics.

“For the last 100 years it’s been either Fianna Fail or Fianna Gael in government and now they can just about cobble together a government between them.”

When asked about getting younger people involved in politics she states that they don’t get involved until things like the housing crisis and the cost of living directly affect them and they’re forced to emigrate.

Emma Doran sits down with her daughter Ella to talk about who makes her laugh, who’s the family messer and looking back on giving birth at 18 in the middle of her Leaving cert year.

“I remember I had to put my uniform back on and I remember thinking: ‘I’ve been through so much, am I not an adult yet?’ It was all very odd but I just really wanted to get it done and dusted”.

Speaking about her now 19-year-old daughter Ella she says: “Ella is completely different to me. She doesn’t drink or smoke and I remember the first disco she went to she came home and was like, ‘Yeah, not really for me’.”
