Sinead Desmond has opened up about her role on TV3’s Ireland AM. The broadcaster has been a lead anchor on the morning show for the last 11 years, but still hasn’t gotten used to the early mornings.
The 43-year-old rises at 4:30am each weekday to join her fellow presenters Mark Cagney, Ciara O’Doherty, Alan Hughes and Aidan Cooney at the TV3 studio in Ballymount.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror she said, “The worst thing is getting up at the crack of dawn. In the summer it’s not so bad – at least you have light but in the winter it’s like punishment. It’s really cruel getting up in the dark in the cold.
Although Sinead loves the TV3 team, she has managed to land herself the role of “bossy cow” on the sofa- a role that her tv hubby Mark Cagney has to endure!
“The best thing is having the craic with the lads and we’re sitting around laughing and that’s our job, I’m not complaining.
“Mark was saying to me he’s really mellowed with age but then he was like, ‘No,’ in fact I’d worn him down.
“I’m a bossy high energy cow and there’s only so much a man can put up with. I think he just lets me do my thing now, the path of least resistance.
“I love Mark, we work well – we’re a good TV husband and wife team,” she said.
