The drama will continue in Fair City tonight with the sudden death of a young Carrigstown resident.
The O’Brien family will be left heartbroken as mechanic Michael suffers a brain haemorrhage and dies in hospital, causing even more devastation for his poor mum Debbie. Just last week she she was held hostage by the twisted Cathal in a hotel basement – will her trauma ever end?
Michael (Richard McWilliams) arrived in Carrigstown last year to work at Paul’s garage, although he had appeared previously as a one-night stand for Paul’s wife Niamh. The pair later resumed their affair, but Niamh split with him to return to her long-term love.
Speaking about tonight’s episode, actor Alan Howley, who plays Michael’s father Eoghan, said: “The O’Briens never had an easy run of it, but this week they face their toughest challenge yet when they lose Michael so suddenly.”
“The O’Briens followed Michael to Carrigstown last year – Debbie being the doting mother, she wanted to be near her son. Eoghan and Michael didn’t always see eye to eye but over the last few months they have definitely grown closer, so Michael’s death is really going to knock Eoghan for six,” he added.
As the family attempts to come to terms with their heartbreak, there is set to be another twist for fans of the show as Eoghan discovers the full truth about Michael’s death.
Tune into Fair City tonight on RTÉ One at 8:00pm.
