Remember John Joe Brennan on the Late Late Toy Show back in 2009? The adorable 8-year-old who declared his love for clocks and won the nations’ hearts by telling Ryan Tubridy he was going to be a horologist when he grows up!?

The little boy – who’s now 14-years-old – was one of the stand out kids on the Toy Show from over the years, and chatting to Ryan yesterday, he told us that he still visits the aspiring clock maker.

VIP visited the RTE set for tonight’s show yesterday – all the pictures and details can be found here – and the host revealed there will be a number of young characters to watch out for.

Telling the media about one boy in particular, he said: “We have another boy tomorrow – and he’s just a kid – and his thing is the weather. He loves when Met Eireann comes on the tv and talking about the weather!”

VIP remarked to the presenter that he could be this year’s John Joe, to which he replied: “I’m glad you mentioned (him) actually.

“We were doing the Late Late Show tour, and I actually called into his grandparents, who live in Roscommon, to see how he was, from a  distance, because he lives in Paris.

“We walked down to this old curiosity shop which had clocks and walking sticks, very 19th century, and we sat down for a cup of tea and his grandad showed me a picture of John Joe, who is now 14.

He added: “He’s still all about the clocks. Nothing has changed, his quest to bring horology to the masses continues. It was the first time I even heard the word, so it was a joy, and I keep an eye on him.”

Ryan said he also recently caught up with young soccer fan Domhnall, whose special moment when he met his hero Robbie Keane back in 2013 went viral.

“It’s like we’re in this weird club!” he joked. “We’re like, “Ah remember that? We saw action on the Toy Show!” We’re like veterans! It’s lovely, it’s all part of the vibe.”
