Over the weekend it was confirmed that Patrick Kielty would be our next Late Late Show host.

Ryan Tubridy has now shared his own delight at the decision to have him take over hosting duties.

Speaking about the decision on his radio show, he admitted that he is “really, really happy” with his replacement.

“I am really, really happy about this choice,” he said.

“I’ve said it before that I was very, very supportive of the fact he might take over the show. I just think he has, what they say in the business, the chops.

“He can cover the heavy side of things, he’s got a background that will inform that.

“He will also obviously do the lighter end of things with great skill because he’s a comedian, he’s a funny guy.”

He explained that he had no worries about the show in Patrick’s hands.

“I really want to wish him the very best of luck,” he went on to say.

“I think he’ll do a great Toy Show as well. He’ll be well able for it as a dad to young kids with a great, smart sense of humour. He’ll be all over it.

“I think the show is in safe hands. He’ll be fine, it’ll be great. It’s not really my thing to be talking about anymore because I’m nearly the ‘ex guy’, but I just want to put some wind in his sails as he heads forth on this extraordinary odyssey.

“Good luck, a good guy and a great future for the Late Late Show. A great decision all round.”

Ryan will host his final show this Friday, we’ll definitely be sad to see him go.

We already know that there will be a Toy Show reunion. Ryan also stated that Michael D Higgins will be one of the guests on the night.
