Ruth Negga has opened up about growing up in Limerick. The Ethiopian-born actor moved to Ireland when she was just 4-years-old.

Now the Oscar-nominated star, who first hit our screens in RTE’s Love/Hate, has recalled her most vivid memory of growing up in the Munster county.

Speaking on Spin 1038 today Ruth admitted that what she remembers most has nothing to do with her home or her friends- but rather a style.

“I have to say one of my memories was seeing a punk with pink and blue hair…I remember thinking this is extraordinary, I’m very impressed now,” she said.

The actress has been given an Oscar nod in the best Actress category for her role as Mildred in Loving.
