We finally have a first look at Ruth Negga in her latest project, Presumed Innocent which is set for a release on Apple TV+ series next month.

Yes, the trailer has dropped for the highly anticipated eight-part legal thriller which also stars the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Peter Sarsgaard, O-T Fagbenle, and Renate Reinsve.

Hailing from David E Kelley (Ally McBeal, The Practice) and executive producer JJ Abrams (Lost, Alias), Presumed Innocent is based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow.

So, what’s it all about?

The official synopsis reads: “Starring Gyllenhaal in the lead role of chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich, the series takes viewers on a gripping journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when one of its own is suspected of the crime.”

The series is also said to explore themes of obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.

This is not the first time, the original book has been adapted into a movie.

In fact, back in 1990, Harrison Ford, Bonnie Bedelia, Greta Scacchi, Raul Julia, and Brian Dennehy led the big-screen adaptation.

The film was then followed by a television miniseries as well as a television film sequel, Innocent, in 2011.

So, how will the latest adaption fare against its predecessors?

Well one thing we know for sure, if our Ruth is in it, how can we not love it?

The Apple TV+ series will debut with two episodes on Wednesday June 12 followed by a new episode each Wednesday through July 24.

Put it in the diary folks!
