Racing for Rosabel kicks off Galway Races with €5000 Best Dressed prizes

Race season is upon us with the Galway Races kicking off this week.

While everyone dons their glad rags and enjoys the event, Racing with Rosabel will be back to raise money for Rosabel’s Room.

The charity was established by parents Suzanne McClean and Gary Monroe in memory of their beloved daughter Rosabel who died suddenly and unexpectedly in April 2017, at only sixteen months old.

Rosabel’s Rooms is a family-focused bereavement suite in hospitals around Ireland designed and developed in collaboration with the design and Dignity project at the Irish Hospice Foundation.

To raise funds for the incredible charity the event is back for its fifth year with plenty of activities to entertain spectators.

The afternoon will be filled with a beautiful lunch and classic cocktails, as racegoers receive tips from some of Ireland’s well-known jockeys and a special performance from Lucia Evans.

Of course, it wouldn’t be race week without a Best Dressed competition with a whopping prize fund of €5000.

To enter the online best dressed donate a minimum of €10 to Rosabel’s Rooms on GoFundMe. All you have to do is upload your image to any of your social media platforms using #racingforrosabel and tag Rosabel’s Rooms and their judges, along with a screenshot of your donation.

“There will be a best-dressed lady, best-dressed gent and best headpiece prizes at the event as well as a separate best-dressed lady and best headpiece online. Anyone that cannot make the event can still enter.”

Suzanne Mc Clean, founder of Rosabel’s Rooms and Rosabel’s mum added: “We are so happy to be back with this event, and of course, an event like this cannot go ahead without the amazing support of our sponsors and contributors.

“We are delighted to have Eyre Square Shopping Centre back as the main sponsor with Leufer’s Jewellers, Gillian Duggan, Michelle Kearns, Harper Boutique, Lir Boutique, Defy Clothing, Barry’s Hair & Beauty Studio, Monroe’s Live and the Connacht Hotel adding to the amazing prize fund.

“It is a pleasure to have Lucia Evans perform the title track from our recently released ‘Songs for Rosabel’. Of course, it would not be the Galway Races without tips from Leon Blanche, Boyle Sports, and his panel of racing experts. It is going to be the place to be to kick off race week.”

Fiona Morgan Coleman and Gillian Duggan will be back to judge the style, alongside new judge, Galway native and TV favourite Grainne Seoige.
