Pippa O’Connor celebrated her son Ollie’s communion last week. But while the day was undoubtedly special, the mum of three also opened up about how “tough” it was as well.

Taking to social media, Pippa replied to a follower who shared they were struggling with their own grief, and revealed that for Pippa herself, big events can still be a challenge following the death of her mother Louise in 2014.

Saying; “I thought the mass was so nice.. it felt special. I know my Mum would have loved it all.”

Continuing; “It was her birthday recently too. Occasions are tough, even the happy ones as you so wish they were there too.”

Pippa has been open about her grief in the past, and just this year opened up about missing her mum on Roxie Nafousi’s The Moments That Made Me podcast.

The model shared; “My mum died suddenly, literally out of the blue my mum passed away. That was incredibly shocking number one, but it was a real moment.”

“The months after that I was so upset and obviously devastated.”

Revealing her first reaction was survival; “My first reaction in the first three to six months of survival mode was just to get on with other things and I probably didn’t process it and a part of me acted like it didn’t happen, it was the only way I could deal with it.”

Pippa marked the seven year anniversary of her mum’s death with a touching tribute on her social media in October of last year.

Sharing that the loss of her mum is something that she has never really got over, but rather learned to get used to, Pippa began:

“7 years. The loss of your Mum no matter how old you are, changes your life forever. Your Mum is your first & forever friend”

“You never really get over the loss, but you learn to live with it. Never far away from your thoughts & always in your heart”
