Could Paul Mescal be starring in a rom-com?

Paul Mescal’s dreams might be coming true.

The actor is known for his very serious and heartbreaking roles. However, he recently confessed that he would love to do a rom-com.

He told Awards Watch: “Comedy scares me deeply because I think I saw Bottoms recently and I was in awe of how they do that. That’s one of those I leave the cinema and I’m incredibly jealous and brightened of everybody’s talents involved with that film.

“I think in the next five years I’m going to set myself a challenge to do maybe, like, a rom-com with Ayo (Edebiri) or something like that would be cool.”

Now rumours have swirled that Paul and Ireland’s adopted daughter, Ayo, will be starring in a rom-com.

To celebrate St Patrick’s Day, The Bear star posted a picture of her with Paul with the caption: “Happy St Paddy’s”.

Why would a snap of a pair of friends send the internet into a spiral about a possible rom-com?

Well, it was reshared by not one but two very important people.

Firstly it was posted by Emily Henry, who is an American author known for her rom-com books including Happy Place, Beach Read and Book Lovers. Beach Read is set to be adapted into a film and with Emily resharing the picture fans were wondering if this was a hint at the casting.

As if that wasn’t enough evidence Yulin Kang, the screenwriter of Beach Read, also reshared the same picture.

And now fans are convinced that Paul and Ayo will play the romantic leads in the best selling novel adaptation.
