We can see an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) in Paul Mescal’s future.
The actor has won a BAFTA for his role in Normal People, his first on-screen role and he is up for an Oscar for Aftersun, his first starring role in a film.
Now, it has just been announced that he is up for an Olivier Award for his West End debut.
Give us a chance here, Paul!

He is up for Best Actor in a Play for his role as Stanley in A Streetcar Named Desire.
The play itself is up for six awards in total including Best Revival, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Lighting Design, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Actor.
He’s not the only Irish face up for an award as Least Like The Other by Irish National Opera and Royal Opera is up for Best New Opera Production. Irish soprano Sinéad Campbell Wallace is also nominated for her performance in Tosca.

Unsurprisingly, the tickets were snapped up almost immediately!
In fact, they broke records as when they went on general sale, the show sold out within two hours. No small feat!
The first production of the play, which has been running since December, sold out in under 24 hours before a second run was announced at the Phoenix Theatre in the West End for six weeks.
Tickets for the extended run went on pre-sale on 31st January and then on general sale today only to sell in two hours.
According to What’s On Stage, it is the fastest-selling production in an Ambassador Theatre Group venue.
The Olivier Awards will take place in London on Sunday 2 April, hosted by Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham.
