Nicola Coughlan is one of the biggest stars in the world right now.
She is riding high on the Bridgerton wave as she leads the third season of the show.
And her star power isn’t dimming anytime soon.
She has just landed her next role.
She will play the lead role in upcoming drama-thriller Love And War about a woman who is forced to travel to Syria to find her abducted daughter.
The film is based on the real-life events of an Irish woman, Louise Monaghan. Nicola will play a fictionalised version of Louise called Sarah O’Meara who in September 2011 rescued her six-year-old daughter who was abducted by her father and smuggled to his native Syria.
Sarah will be forced to not only survive a war but also outsmart her ex-husband and former abuser.
The film is based on the book Stolen: Escape From Syria by Louise Monaghan with Yvonne Kinsella.
Coughlan told Deadline: “I am so honoured to be playing this role and to tell the story of Louise Monaghan’s incredible bravery.”
Louise who Nicola’s character is based on, said: “I am absolutely delighted to hear that the fantastically talented Derry Girls and Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan is excited to take on my role and bring my story of perseverance and heartbreak to the big screen.”
