Michael Fassbender’s newest film Alien: Covenant has landed in Irish theatres, and it is thrilling film enthusiasts the world wide.
And in an interview the promote the movie, Kerry-native Fassbender discussed what is undoubtedly the strangest scene in the movie, and without wishing to give any any plot secrets, sees Fassbender kiss himself!
Michael plays two different characters in the movie, and the scene in question occurs when they confront each other, with only one surviving.
Asked about what it was like to watch that scene in a movie theatre, Michael said that while it was certainly odd, he probably doesn’t appreciate it in the same way that many of his female admirers would!
“It’s funny and it’s strange ….It’s weird to watch yourself anway… I’m kind of looking at it analytically, and trying to see the things that work and don’t work.
I thought it was an unusual thing to do, and unusual element to the character.”
Michael also joked about being recently awarded the Freedom of Killarney. “It’s not really the freedom of Killarney,” he laughed, “I can’t take sheep through the town!” He did admit, however, that it was “a great pride and honour, and a pretty cool thing to do.”
