Maura Derrane has shared her excitement as she is set to step into Ryan Tubridy’s shoes.
The TV presenter tells VIP Magazine that she will be joining the RTÉ Radio 1 family as she will present the weekly morning show.
“I’m so excited, I’ve wanted to do radio for so long,” she enthuses.
“It’s one of the areas I’ve never worked in. I love radio, I feel like it’s such an intimate medium. I’m just so excited! And nervous as well – I have those first day of school nerves.”
And we couldn’t be more excited to hear her!
She is set to take on the slot for the next two weeks from 10am to 12pm.
Oliver Callan and Brendan Courtney had been hosting the show over the summer after Ryan Tubridy left the radio slot.
With the radio studios based in Dublin and Maura relocating to the capital in 2021 it looks like a permanent job on the airwaves could be on the cards.
Currently, Maura presents The Today Show in Cork alongside Dáithí Ó Sé and Sinéad Kennedy.
Could she be swapping the TV screen for the radio? We’ll be keeping our ears peeled!
Maura Derrane was speaking to VIP Magazine as an ambassador for the Irish Heart Foundation’s ‘Her Heart Matters’ campaign, which aims to increase awareness of the risks of heart disease and stroke in women. You can check out all the details here.
