It was an unexpected (yet pleasant) surprise this morning as our fave radio broadcaster took to Twitter to announce her return to the day job;
“Back at work this morning… shortest honeymoon ever”
Mairead returns to the studios a new woman…with a new name as of last week, when she officially changed her Twitter username to ‘Mairead Ronan’ . The star chose to take her new husband, Louis Ronan’s, last name after the nuptials. Her decision has stirred up much controversy over the past week with the debate of whether it’s ok for a woman to drop her maiden name once married, being discussed on all media platforms. Mairead explained her choice by commenting that if she were to keep her own maiden name, she would be “two people”.
The wedding, which took place just under a week ago, was held in county Tipperary with the famous faces of Ray D’Arcy and his wife Jenny, Louise Duffy, Ian Dempsey and Marian Finucane descending onto the two-day celebrations.
Uncharacteristically, it has been revealed that the bride availed of the opportunity to relax in the lead up to the big day as the groom took over the planning of the festivities. Not only did he plan out most of the ceremony and reception, he also sorted out the honeymoon, keeping all the details of the latter from his wife to be.
