Irish crime drama, Kin, was one of RTÉ’s biggest shows last year and will be returning for a second series. But star Yazmin Seky is still enjoying a normal life despite her massive success.
Yazmin, who plays Nikita Murphy, opened up to the Irish Daily Mirror about how life has changed since Kin premiered, but as it turns out the Dubliner is keeping her life as normal as possible, still having her day job working in a bank while keeping things low-key.
Saying; “For the moment I’m still doing both, but with season two coming up, who knows what we will be doing next.”
“I’m kind of just a home body anyway, so it wouldn’t be out much.”
Yazmin made quite the impression as Nikita on the show and won the award for Best Newcomer at the Royal Television Society Awards this week.
The Cabra native was overjoyed to have been recognised for her work, saying; “You know I think sometimes when you’re nervous, you don’t really know how you’re getting on so to have some sort of recognition or to have other people kind of confirm that you’re doing a good job. That’s great.”
And seeing how well received her performance in season one was, she is of course excited for season two. “We were really hoping that it would come back. Especially this year, with the restrictions gone, and it’s gonna be filmed in the summertime, it’s just gonna be completely different than last time.”
“So we’re already looking forward to it.”
“I feel more relaxed. I think we’re just more so excited. Because you know, people have seen how the story has gone so far.”
But when it comes to the second series, Yazmin isn’t giving anything away, despite the best efforts of fans.
As she explained; “people are excited to see what’s gonna happen next. Who is going where? Who’s doing what?”
“Everyone has been asking me what happened? At work, on the street. Everyone wants to know.”
But even if she wanted to share some details, she couldn’t as Kin’s writer Peter McKenna has kept everything, “undercover and all under wrap somewhere,” with even the stars not knowing what’s in store for season two.
