Former Westlife star Kian Egan has spoken out against the Boyzlife reunion, and he is not impressed!
Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden are joining together to form a Boyzlife supergroup and they will be touring Ireland and the UK later this year. The two boyband members will be performing the greatest hits of both bands, Westlife and Boyzone, and Kian isn’t happy about it. Speaking to 98fm’s The Big Breakfast this morning, he called the tour a “clever marketing ploy”, leading fans to believe that the two bands were uniting.
“Personally speaking, I think it’s not the right way to do it, and I think it was pretty unfair on the fans to make them think that.”
The Voice of Ireland coach also stated that if Westlife were to do a reunion, it would be as Westlife, the foursome – ie. without Brian McFadden. He finds the whole project odd, considering Brian stepped away from Westlife in 2004. Eeek, awkward!
“It’s a bit of an odd one. You know, a member of Westlife who left the band after four years decides to use half the name for whatever it is that they’re doing. If Westlife ever got back together again, it would be Westlife. It would be the four guys who stood in Croke Park the day Westlife ended”.
Brian and Keith will appear on The Late Late Show tonight to talk about the upcoming tour.
