Despite meeting at a boxing club, Kellie Harrington’s wife Mandy Loughlin isn’t a fan of watching her wife in the ring.
She becomes the first Irish woman to win gold at two Olympic games and the first Irish boxer to defend their title.
While we were glued to our screens watching her go, her wife was unable to watch the fight.

Speaking to The Irish Sun ahead of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, she admitted: “I won’t be watching any of the fights. I’ll be holding the phone in anxiety texting everybody to see how she’s getting on.
“I can’t watch when she fights at all. I’ll be glued to my phone and I’ll have a few people who will text me updates. I haven’t watched a fight in a long long time.”
While she was unable to attend the Tokyo games, she was ringside for her wife in Paris. While she may not have been able to watch, she was there to celebrate with her after the medal ceremony.

The couple met in 2009 as they were both boxers at the time. Now Mandy teaches boxercise classes but leaves the fighting to Kellie.
The couple tied the knot in 2022 in a beautiful reception at the Old Spot in Dublin after over ten years together.
The couple were joined by their friends and family, but most importantly, their pups, Nidge and Macy, who were in attendance as well. Not only that, but their dogs also featured on the wedding cake, with fondant versions of them sitting on the tiers of the cake.
