Kathryn Thomas has thrown some shade at The Voice of Ireland, admitting that the talent competition has yet to create a star.
But the Carlow native said that despite the fact huge success hasn’t happened for any contestants, it’s a good starting place for artists.
“It hasn’t made a pop star yet over here,” she told RSVP Magazine. “But it does provide a platform for people to get their face and their voice out there. I think that’s important to recognise.
Despite being the host of the show, Kathryn has admitted that The Voice hasn’t done quite as well as versions of the competition abroad.
“It’s something that has been discussed. In the States, the winners do incredibly well. The show has transformed the network that it’s broadcast on over there,” she said.
Speaking of which, it was announced at the weekend that RTE could be replacing The Voice of Ireland with Louis Walsh’s brand new talent show, Ireland’s Got Talent.
Opening up about the possible change, Kathryn said, “We’re a country that has some amazing artists. I don’t know if anybody else would agree with me, but I would see room for both of them.”
