Irish actor Jack Reynor has won himself a part in a new crime film, being directed by Oscar winning director, Kathryn Bigelow.

Kathryn was the brains behind Hollywood blockbuster The Hurt Locker, and is now taking on a film based on the Detroit riots in 1967.

After his successful performance in John Carney’s Sing Street, Jack stated that he wanted to steer away from commercial films and focus on more prestigious projects, so this film is a perfect fit for the 24-year-old.

No information has been given yet about the characters or the studio behind the film, but it’s likely that the release date will be in 2017, for the 50th anniversary of the riots.
