It’s no surprise that Cillian Murphy was nominated in the Best Actor category for his role in Oppenheimer.

The Cork man is expected to pick up an Oscar for his turn in the film later this year. And we would be delighted!

This may come as a surprise but this is also Cillian’s first film BAFTA nomination. He earned his first TV award just last year for Peaky Blinders.

Barry Keoghan has also been nominated in the same category for Saltburn. Barry won his first BAFTA last year for The Banshees of Inisherin.

However, noticeably absent from the Best Actor rundown is Andrew Scott for his heartbreaking role in All of Us Strangers.

We have to say he was robbed!

However, All of Us Strangers has received several nominations in other categories, including Best Supporting Actor. Paul Mescal has been nominated for his role in the film.

Fingers crossed for the Maynooth man!
