Imelda May has revealed the surprising reason why she decided to change up her style.
The singer, who is known for her trademark blonde quiff and bold red lips, recently swapped to a much more subtle look of a thick brown fringe and nude makeup.
Imelda admitted that she felt as if she had almost become a character of herself, and wanted to be change that immediately.
Speaking to The Irish Sun, Imelda said, “I always loved the fifties rockabilly style but there was a point where I felt I was almost dressing up as Imelda May.
“It was as if I was getting into character for a gig. And I didn’t want to do that any more, this is the real me.”
Imelda first debuted the new look earlier this year, and it doesn’t seem like she’s going back to her old ways any time soon!
