Caitriona Perry has opened up about moving from the US back to Dublin.

The journalist spent four years in Washington as RTE’s news and current affairs correspondent.

She will now move back to Ireland full time as the new co-host of the Six One News alongside Keelin Shanley.

When asked about whether she was nervous about the new gig, Caitriona explained that she’s well used to the job.

However, she is slightly more worried about making the big move from America.

“I’ve been in broadcast journalism for a long time now so I’m more concerned about packing up my life and moving continents,” she said.

“I’ll be back in the US packing over Christmas and then I’ll move back over the Christmas break, and get ready to start in January.”

The former US correspondent explained that with her love of news, she is excited by the prospect.

“I have a very busy patch at the moment with President Trump so if you’re a news junkie like me, every news day is exciting,” she told the Mirror.

Keeling and Caitriona are replacing Bryan Dobson and Sharon Ni Bheolain on RTE’s flagship news show.

Bryan will now work on Morning Ireland while Sharon will present the Nine O’Clock news.
