Actor Patrick Ball bid farewell to Fair City this week after three years on the soap.
The Limerick-born star played troublemaker Oisín Brennan on the show since 2016 but last night saw his character leave Carrigstown for London.
Patrick revealed that he will miss the fun and the people he worked with on the show.
“Three years might not seem like a long time, but it is a very long time to be on the same job for an actor,” he said.
“You get very close with the people you’re working with. I’ll miss them a lot, and I’ll miss the fun that you have on that set. But at the same time, it’s a nice thing to be able to be sad about something like that.
“I had a great three years there, but a part of me wanted a change, to see what else was out there, and everyone in Fair City couldn’t have been more supportive of my decision. They really are a great group of people.”
The 24-year-old added that he was happy with how his character developed over time on the show.
“Oisín’s most recent storyline is a strangely emotional one for him,” he said.
“I think it’s a nice change of pace because he becomes quite vulnerable. He’s by no means a good guy, but I did feel for him in this last week. His bad streak makes a lot of sense when you see his relationship with Paul [his dad].”
Though the actor was looking for a change, he has no work lined up but hopes to get more into the writing side of tv and film.
“That’s one of the exciting/scary things about acting,” he added. “I have nothing on the horizon now, but that could change tomorrow, you just don’t know.
“Apart from acting, I’m really enjoying writing. I started doing it on my time off from Fair City, but now that I have more time on my hands, I’ll be doing much more of that.”
