Here in VIP Towers we love to hear about new celebrity couples – so we were excited to hear the rumours today about the lovely Rachel Wyse and her new beau.
The Sky Sports presenter is rumoured to be dating hurling hotshot Joe Canning, after the pair were linked together late last year.
Rachel, who fronts the GAA coverage at the British station, has apparently been growing a close friendship with Joe over the past few months, and now it’s emerged that they have become even closer and have enjoyed a number of dates.
And even though they are both fiercely private about their love lives, a source close to the hurler has said he is head over heels with the Dublin beauty.
“We’ve been asking him for months as it’s clear they’re close but Joe is very private and so is Rachel by all accounts,” an insider told the Irish Mirror. “She pops up in his Snapchats and she was out in his company after Galway beat Cork last month.
“So apparently they’re waiting until after the Championship is over to make things official. Joe has always kept himself to himself and even when the hurling lads slag him in the Whatsapp group he doesn’t react so it’s all been very hush-hush.”
The source added: “But those closest to him say he’s absolutely smitten and why wouldn’t he be? She’s drop dead gorgeous and she’s into sport so she’s the dream woman.”
Rachel (30) was in her native Dublin last month and insisted she is too busy for any romance. “If someone comes along and it works, great, but that person hasn’t so I’m much happier single instead of going out with someone for the sake of it,” she said at the time.
She currently splits her time between London and Dublin due to her job, which she has signed a contract for until 2017. Meanwhile, Joe, 26, is preparing for an All-Ireland Final against reigning champions Kilkenny after beating Tipperary in a heroic semi-final last weekend.
