Holly Carpenter has shared her thoughts on Ruth O Neill’s recent Xpose comments.

Ruth, who left TV3 in April, recently revealed that she felt her role was ‘the hardest job at the station’.

The presenter also said that the pay was not equal to the workload.

Holly has now hit out at these claims, adding that she doesn’t understand what Ruth was expecting for the job.

“I think it’s common knowledge that TV3 doesn’t have the biggest budget and presenters are given a hefty workload, so I’m not sure what Ruth expected,”

“I found similar things frustrating when I started modelling. In many cases I was expected to arrive at shoots with my hair and make-up done and even provide the shoes and clothes.

“It was annoying at times when I felt like I was spending a good wedge of the fee even before the agency took their percentage,” she wrote in her column for The Herald.

She added that she was glad to be in a position many other would love.

“However, I understood that’s the nature of the job when you’re starting out. I was grateful to be doing a job that a lot of girls would love have.”

An insider from TV3 had a similar response to Ruth’s comments about wages.

“Everyone knows that we can’t pay our talent the astronomical rates of RTE,” the source said.
