It’s that time of year again, folks.
The time when families come together, TVs are switched on, and adults across the country take a moment to laugh, cry, and watch some kids have the best night of their lives.
That’s right, the Late Late Toy Show is on tonight, and we’ve got the lowdown on what to expect, including the eagerly anticipated theme.
The theme for this year’s Toy Show is… Elf!
Yep, the iconic, adorable, charming, and hilarious Elf is going to be the focal point of tonight’s show, and we couldn’t be more excited. Patrick Kielty as Papa Elf? Say no more.
This is Patrick’s first time at the helm of the Toy Show, and he’s only delighted to be taking over the reigns of such an iconic institution.
We caught up with the presenter earlier this week, and he said it’s an “honour” to be stepping into the role.
“For me, having kids myself who are right in the sweet spot for the show, it’s a big, big thing.
“And as someone who grew up watching it, walking around that set, you turn back into an 8 year old, sitting in Dundrum with the fire lit, watching Gay Byrne.
“It’s a massive, massive honour to be a part of this party. The other thing is that it is a party, so we’re going to have a lot of fun.”
Patrick added that there will, of course, be some surprises and special guests present on the night…
“We’ve got some amazing performances, we’ve got a few surprises… There’s definitely a few costume changes. There will be singing and dancing, whether I’m singing and dancing is yet to be seen.”
The Late Late Toy Show kicks off tonight at 9.35pm on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.
