It can’t be denied that we love a good reality dating show, there’s just something about the drama unfolding that gets our blood pumping and roots us to our seats wanting more.
So it’s no wonder Ireland’s new Love Island-esque dating show, Grá ar an Trá is getting so much hype.
To make it even more exciting two more hosts have been added to the mix alongside James Kavanagh.
That’s right, Gráinne Seoige and Síomha Ní Ruairc will be joining James as hosts in the hope of helping a group of Irish singles find some ‘Grá ar an Trá’ – yes you really do have to try use your cupla focail.
Virgin Media’s brand new dating show will have a group of singles attempting to find love while tackling our native language – finally the days in school are going to count for something.
Irish teachers everywhere are most certainly getting the last laugh.
When speaking about the new hosting gig, Gaeilgoir Gráinne Seoige mentioned how excited she is to channel her inner dating guru.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to the craic we’ll have cheering the couples on as they get a blas for Gaeilge and hopefully for each other too! The grand prize should bring out the teanga dhúchais in all of them.”

Gráinne will be an incredible addition to the show having worked across every Irish broadcaster including TV3, TG4 and RTÉ.
Although this will be the first time she’s stepped into anything resembling Maya Jama’s shoes.
Síomha Ní Ruairc, a TG4 veteran with a fluency in Irish we’re all a little jealous of, will be joining Gráinne in presenting the show.
When asked about her new hosting gig, Síomha said: “I’m so excited to be involved in Grá ar an Trá, and to get an opportunity to show to Virgin Media’s audience the fun, rógaireacht (mischief) and romance which will be had – through a language they may not usually see it in.”

While this is a dating show, it’s a totally new format from anything I’ve seen and I’m thrilled that the language is a focal point of it. I hope I do the long line of Bean an Tí’s who have gone before me justice.”
Grá ar an Trá will welcome a group of lucky singletons to the Gaeltacht region in Ireland as they brush up on their Irish and attempt to find love.
The €10,000 cash prize is a bonus that the winners take home along with their gaeilge and a new love interest.
