First Irish Eurovision hopeful has been confirmed

Last year, Erica Cody told VIP Magazine that she hoped to represent Ireland in the 2024 Eurovision.

“I have some big plans and I’m hoping they’re going to Eurovision-based,” she told us back in August.

“I’m interested in doing it and I have the song.”

She went on to say: “I’ve been approached to do it a couple of years ago and it was one of those things where I said, ‘Never say never’ but the timing just had to be right. Now I feel like I’m at a place in my life where it’s something that I could do, do well. And hopefully do Ireland proud and give them something international!”

And most importantly she’s a Eurovision fan telling us: “Of course, I’m a Eurovision fan, I watch it every year.”

She has now been confirmed to be in the running to represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision.

Erica’s song is entitled Love Me Like I Do.

Speaking on The Ray D’arcy Show, she described the song, saying: “The song has never meant more to me than it does right now. It really helped me get through one of the most challenging times in my life while navigating a break-up.

“It’s the ultimate feel-good self-love anthem.”

Five more artists are due to be announced to vie it out for the chance to represent Ireland in Malmö, Sweden in May of this year.

Good luck!
