Following his shows in Dublin last weekend, Macklemore has been traveling around Ireland and was sure to stop off for a spot of retail therapy in Galway.
Based on a recommendation by a close associate, the US rapper went to The Tweed Project’s workshop, which is part of designer Aoibheann MacNamara’s house.
He brought along his wife Tricia and daughter Sloane, and couldn’t get enough of the Irish designer’s work.
Aoibheann exclusively spoke to VIP and said, “It’s not a shop, so it’s appointment only. We were approached by a mutual friend – maybe his cousin – who brought him down with the family. It was very private.
“He was lovely. His little daughter and wife was there too. We had good fun. He knew what he wanted. He was very pragmatic.”
While there, he was sure to pick up a thing or two. His top choice was a tribal inspired, black and grey gilet with tassels.
“He got a long gilet from our winter collection. It was definitely for him! It has an edgy spin on the traditional look. He loved it!”
Her client’s privacy is usually a priority for Aoibheann, however as Macklemore was determined to pose for a few snaps in his new buys.
“We have quite a few famous clients. It was just a spur of the moment thing were he wanted to take pictures. I don’t usually do that.”
One thing’s for sure, the Tweed Project have certainly impressed!
