Erica Cody took to Instagram this week to discuss how she would revamp the Eurosong contest.
She took place in the competition in January but unfortunately did not get voted to represent Ireland at Eurovision.
Cork artist Bambie Thug will head to Malmö in May.
However, Erica has said that she would ideally like to see a switch up of how Ireland chooses their song to send to Eurovision.
Speaking on her Instagram Story, she reflected on trying out for Eurovision once again.
“I’ll never say never but for now my head and my heart says no. It’s just for the simple reason that I think moving forward it would be super beneficial if it was its own show,” she confessed.
“And listen, I’m so grateful for the experience and being a part of it. We had an absolute ball, but I think in terms of artists taking part in Eurosong, I think it needs to be its own stand-alone show in a venue with really good sound and on a proper stage.
“Because at the end of the day, Eurovision is on a big stage and I think it is the right idea to give artists that opportunity. Sound is a huge thing.”
She went on to say that competing to take part in Eurosong “consumes and take up a lot of time”.
“Another factor for me would be that I am a singer, I’m a songwriter and I’m also an artist but when it comes to things like this, they consume and take up a lot of time,” she explained.
“Thankfully it’s only January so I’m only getting into sessions and stuff like that. But moving forward I just have so much more planned that I don’t think I’d be able to actually take the time off to do it again which is a good complaint I suppose.”
We’re sure Erica will be back with some brilliant songs very soon!
