Tensions were high for the third week of Dancing with the Stars.
Yes, the looming elimination saw the celebrities pulling out all the stops.
Here’s how everyone got on…
Laura Fox and Denys Samson
Laura gave it her all for the Paso Doble and certainly proved why she deserves to continue on in the competition!
Loraine was all praise for Laura’s “excellent” usage of her skirt but told her she wanted to give it “100 per cent”.
Arthur told her that she “beat the Paso Doble so hard”!
They received a score of a very well-deserved 23 from the judges.
Davy Russell and Kylee Vincent
The jockey gave it his all as he danced the Samba with his pro partner who returned after her illness.
Jennifer Zamparelli was very excited to point out that there was “something different” about Davy AKA his tan.
Unfortunately, Arthur wasn’t very impressed with Davy’s “fluidity” in the samba while Brian admitted he’s “seen worse sambas” although he was quick to say “not many of them”. Yikes!
As for the scores, all three of them gave Davy four which means he got 12 points!
David Whelan and Salome Chachua
The Wild Youth took on the Viennese waltz on Sunday night. The last two weeks he has shown off high energy dances, so this was a different side completely!
And he certainly impressed the judges once again!
Loraine enthused that it was “so beautiful” and he has made his way “into her heart”. Arthur gushed that David has “delivered practically perfect” every week and branded the singer a “wonder kid”.
Once again he received eight from all three judges, adding up to 24!
Rory Cowan and Jillian Bromwich
It was all about the salsa for Rory!
After announcing he didn’t know what the Macarena was, it didn’t look good for Rory!
So what did the judges have to say? Well, Loraine pointed out that there was “no hip action” while Arthur told him that he didn’t bring the heat on the dancefloor. While Brian compared his salsa to “a cheap cocktail” but added he was certainly entertaining!
Now the scores are in with Loraine and Arthur giving him a five and Brian scored him a three, bringing him up to 13.
Rosanna Davison and Stephen Vincent
Oh, Rosanna, she was like a doll as she quickly stepped across the floor.
She certainly proved that she deserved to continue on in the series.
Arthur gushed that he “loved to see this side of her” after she boogied across the floor. Brian said that her dance was “lovely and light” but admitted that she “didn’t get going quick enough”.
Unfortunately, she did take a little slip on the floor meaning Brian gave her a six and both Loraine and Arthur gave her a seven. This added up to 20!
Eileen Dunne and Robert Rowiński
Come, Eileen!
She didn’t have a ponytail this week but she gave it her all as she waltzed across the floor.
Brian told her that her “movement was lovely” but he wanted “more of it”, but he’s hoping that she stays in the show “long after the Easter bunny is gone”. While Loraine referred to the dance as “gorgeous” and “delicate”.
It’s definitely her best dance so far and the judges agreed scoring her a 17 with two sixes from Loraine and Arthur and a five from Brian.
Katja Mia and Ervinas Merfeldas
We’re big fans of the Cha Cha Cha here at VIP! And Katja really proved why it’s a favourite dance.
Loraine was obsessed with the “cool” Cha Cha Cha and told her it was “fabulous”! While Arthur told Katja that he was “truly gifted” as she killed it on the dancefloor.
She really did Beyoncé proud!
As for the scores, she received three eights meaning she got a grand total of 24!
Miriam Mullins and Montel Hewson
Miriam showed off her softer side as she danced the foxtrot.
She got a boost when her beloved dog came up from Cork to visit her!
Arthur was “in heaven” watching Miriam move across the floor. Brian was a bit harsher admitting the “foxtrot is difficult but that wasn’t bad”.
She received a six from Loraine and seven from Brian and Arthur, meaning she got a score of 20.
Shane Quigley Murphy and Laura Nolan
Those feet were going 90 for the jive!
Yes, Shane was certainly proving that he deserved to stay in the competition!
Brian was delighted that he took instruction as his feet were “perfect”. Loraine was also impressed with Shane’s dance moves and his energy!
It’s no surprise that the scores were so high as he received a score of 24 with three eights from the judges.
Blu Hydrangea and Simone Arena
Blu had a lot to prove with her Tango on Sunday night. And she certainly did that!
Loraine described the dance as “fierce and fiery” and said that it was “perfect”.
“I know you live for the applause but I lived for that Tango,” Arthur gushed repeating that it was “electrifying”.
She certainly impressed the judges and got a score of 25 with eights from Loraine and Brian and an electrifying nine from Arthur.
Jason Smyth and Karen Byrne
Jason stepped out for Contemporary Ballroom to showcase how he sees the world.
The audience at home got glimpses of how he sees with his sight impairment as the screen was blocked out and blurred.
Karen was moved to tears as the judges told Jason that it was a “powerful” choice to show the whole country what he sees. Arthur loved how he told a story through his dance.
He scored three eights from the judges meaning that he got a total of 24.
