Donal Skehan reveals he would love to do live TV after missing out on major RTÉ gig

Irish celebrity chef Donal Skehan has revealed he would love to do some live TV after narrowly missing out on a coveted RTÉ Live show.

Donal revealed that he was in the running to take over as host of Dancing With The Stars Ireland when Nicky Byrne hung up his shoes and departed the show.

Fan favourite 2FM radio host Doireann Garrihy ended up landing the gig, but that hasn’t stopped Donal in his quest for more live TV opportunities.

Chatting to RSVP Live Donal said: “Doireann and Jen absolutely smashed it. I would love to do more live television and maybe not necessarily food orientated.”

Adding: “It’s definitely something I would consider because I absolutely love the interaction of live television.”

Donal has become a household name both here and abroad thanks to his skill in the kitchen, he even made an appearance on ITV’s This Morning.

“I’ve always been a huge lover of television,” he explained. “When I was in the States there were loads of shiny floor shows with huge setups.”

Adding: “Stuff I’ve done in the UK, like Saturday Kitchen and Junior Masterchef, are very big productions too, even the behind-the-counter cooking ones. I love working on live television and interacting with people as I’m doing it, so I’d absolutely be up for more.”

We would love to see Donal branch out into new TV opportunities!
