Daniel and Majella’s house renovation was the talk on everyone’s lips, especially when they turned to Dermot Bannon to help make their dreams a reality.
The couple wanted to turn their dreary Donegal home into a modern slice of paradise.
And as the couple invites VIP Magazine inside their home, it’s clear that they have done just that.
Speaking to us, Daniel confesses: “I come down those stairs every morning and think, ‘God bless us, this is something else’.”
His wife, Majella adds: “It’s a house that has changed our life. It’s like a new house built inside the old. I mean there was three rooms where the open plan kitchen is now.
“It was very dark and dreary. And with these windows, you feel like you’re outside even though you’re in.”
With Daniel growing up just minutes away from their forever home, the singer feels a deep connection to the land and the people.
Despite their love for the area, they also have a deep passion for travel, they even have their own show Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip where they journey around Ireland and fall in love with new areas.
Majella’s daughter and Daniel’s step-daughter, Siobhan is based in Tenerife with Daniel actually spending a fortnight with them this summer.
“I went out for two weeks to see Siobhan and Gavin and the children (Daniel’s step-grandchildren are 7, 4 and 1) just really to babysit for Siobhan and Gavin so they were able to get out for a bit of dinner at night.”
Majella adds: “He’s more involved than I am! I wouldn’t call myself Earth Grandmother or even Earth Mother! I’ve had mine and done it, but for Daniel this is new and he’s getting to do all the stuff he never got a chance to do before.”
