Damian McGinty is preparing for the final of Dancing with the Stars.

And he is in flying form as VIP Magazine catches up with him.

Not only has he been enjoying his time on the dancefloor on Dancing with the Stars, he has been loving his time back in Ireland.

He is based in America where his wife Anna is from and he will be returning after the show is over. So we had to find out what he misses most in Ireland.

“Irish people,“ he tells us with a smile.

“I love American people, but there’s just something more hardy about Irish people’s personality. They’re always up for the craic. This experience has been amazing.“

Of course, he then quickly adds that the food is also a big thing for him.

“I miss the chippy. There’s no chippers in America. I hate that.“

One thing he isn’t missing is alcohol as he tells us: “I haven’t had a drink this entire experience. I haven’t had time. I can’t imagine dancing with any sort of hangover.

“I’m not a big drinker anyway but I wanted full clarity when we were doing all this. When I’m in the middle of big projects, I want to be focused.“

He admits that he is going to find it “very, very hard“ to go back to America and he and his wife, Anna are organising to spend more time in Ireland.

“I’m so happy. It’s going to be very, very hard to go back to America. We’ve been having conversations anyway about spending a lot more time here,“ he explains.

“This is the first time doing that. So we’re getting used to spending chunks of time here for Anna. We’re fully transitioning our lives so we can have a base here and have a base in the States. She’s American, so we’ll always spend time here.“

Tune into the Dancing with the Stars finale on Sunday night at 6.30pm
