Simon Delaney has spoken about he possibility of his appearance on Coronation Street last week leading to a re-occuring role.
The actor played a jewellery salesman called Phil in an episode of the soap, and has now said he has to wait and see if he will be asked back to the cobbles.
“They take a look at how you got on and then decide if they will bring you back to take over the pub or buy the corner shop or sleep with Gail or be a chef,” Simon told The Irish Independent.
“I draw the line at some things. A chef I’ll play, but Gail Tilsley’s lover? Nah.”
The 46-year-old actor says the ‘staggering’ response on social media to his appearance on the soap left him surprised.
“It was unbelievable,” he said. “When people woke up on Saturday morning they must have thought I died because of the coverage it got on Twitter.
“I’ve done shows like The Good Wife and movies with Vince Vaughn, but seven minutes on Coronation Street was the most reaction I’ve ever got.”
We’d love to see Simon as a permanent fixture in Weatherfield!
