Christy Dignam has stepped out of the public eye in recent months.

The Aslan frontman has been in palliative care since December of 2022.

“In July 2022, Christy was admitted to Beaumont Hospital and spent the next six months in the care of the Haematology and Cardiac Care team,” a statement from the family read.

“Since December, Christy has been at home and is being cared for lovingly by family, with the support of a palliative care team.

“The Dignam family thanks everyone for keeping Christy in their thoughts and prayers and asks for privacy at this time.”

Earlier this year, Christy took part in his final interview with Ryan Tubridy for his radio show.

Sadly, his daughter, Kiera has been forced to deny “cruel” rumours that he had passed away over the weekend.

“Can people please stop sharing and posting that my Dad has passed away, this is not true!” she wrote online after rumours circulated that the 62-year-old had died.

“Until an update on anything comes from myself and my family please ignore.

“This is a tough enough time and cruel to have to be put in a position to have to clear something like this up.”

Christy has opened up about dying, telling Ryan Tubridy: “Just fear, nobody wants to die. When I first got diagnosed [with cancer], I remember praying I was like ‘please, just give me 10 more years.’

“And that 10 years are up now and you’re kind of saying, ‘I know I only asked for 10 but you couldn’t throw another 10 in there could you, yeah?’.”
