It looks like the curse has finally been lifted as Mayo finally lifted the Sam Maguire cup after 75 years.
Mayo has made it to the final 11 times since 1989 but has failed to win.
Of course, the entire country knows of the “curse” that was said to be put on the 1951 winning team as they failed to pay respects to a funeral.
And on Sunday they managed to break the curse, beating Kerry by three points in Croke Park.

Tributes have poured in for the winning county, including from former President of the United States Joe Biden.
“For the first time in 75 years, the Sam Maguire Cup comes home to Mayo, Ireland. I said it three years ago when I was in Ballina: Mayo for Sam!” he wrote on social media.
“And I meant it. I said it because I know what it means not just the county of Mayo but to my own family’s story. Today, the dream becomes reality.
“Congratulations to my friends in Mayo. You earned this victory. Enjoy every minute. Sam is coming home.”

Of course, Joe Biden has ancestral ties to Mayo and visited Ballina during a visit to Ireland.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wrote: “A proud son of County Mayo tonight. After 75 years, the curse is broken and the Sam Maguire Cup is coming home.”
Both members of Oasis Noel and Liam Gallagher shared their delight about the win, as their grandmother lived in Charlestown in Co Mayo.
“FINALLY!! UP MAYO!!” Noel simply wrote, while Liam said: “Congratulations MAYO lick it up to ras very proud LG x”

Ireland AM presenter Eric Roberts shared a video of himself in Croke Park with the caption: “Mayo have done it.”
He then went on to say on Monday morning: “Today shall henceforth be known as ‘Mayo Monday’ a national hangover day.”
