Catherine Fulvio is headed to the coolest donut shop in tonight’s episode of Tastes Like Home.
The cook has been travelling the world with this latest RTE series, however is off to America during this episode, to visit an incredible voodoo donut shop.
Speaking to VIP Magazine, Catherine said, “This week it’s Portland and Oregon. It’s a very interesting place. I make voodoo donuts.
“They are donuts shaped like voodoo dolls and then they get decorated and a pretzel gets stabbed into them like a voodoo doll. It’s the maddest donut shop I’ve ever been in.
“People actually go there to get married. They get a free box of donuts! It’s really, really interesting. It’s a beautiful city.”
Catherine has been keeping herself incredibly busy over the past few months, as not only has she been filming this new series, but she’s also only recently released a cookbook, Catherine Fulvio A Taste of Home.
“It’s full of my mother’s recipes, my grandmother’s recipes, our cookery school recipes, and it’s all really wholesome, hearty food,” she says.
“It’s very much flavours which I grew up with because it’s linked in with the tv series. As a family, we often sit and talk about dishes that my mother made because she ran the guest house here for years. She cooked three meals a day for people staying.
“For us, growing up here we were exposed to plenty of new food concepts, but always used our own farm produce. It was quite easy to pull on inspiration when you’ve grown up in that environment.
“I’m lucky in that sense. I love food and experimenting, and trying new things. I’m really passionate about the marriage of flavours and ingredients. I’m always creating new things. It’s an easy job – plus, I got to taste everything and I’m still paying the price for that.”
