Brendan O’Connor’s new €1mil show is set to get everyone talking

It'll be a controversial one!

Brendan O’Connor’s new RTE show, reportedly costing a cool €1 million, is set to ruffle some feathers.

The presenter will sit down with tv bosses today to decide on a title for his new show, which will be an “in the round” format in which he encourages comedians, journalists and politicians “to tear lumps out of each other.” Sounds a little Hunger Games-esque, no?

But a source told the Irish Sun that Brendan’s next big project, following him leaving the Saturday Night Show, will be nothing like the station’s former debate show The Panel.

“The Panel had people on desks. Bren’s new show is in the round with well-known faces eyeballing each other,” the insider disclosed. “No one is looking for one liners or gags. What’s required is people who are clever and opinionated.”

They continued: “It has to be such a tough uncompromising show because Brendan has such strong journalistic instincts.  “There will be no question of people sacrificing the debate to make easy punchlines. This show has to set the agenda to have people talking about it the next day at work.”

The new series, produced by Mind the Gap, will be filmed live each week in RTE in May. According to reports, the series will run for 16 weeks, with a short run starting in May before returning for a longer stint in the winter.

“The new show has such a long run because Brendan has a contract to appear on RTE TV for that many hours from his Saturday Night Show,” the source explained.

We can’t wait to see what trouble Brendan will stir up… *cue evil laugh*
