Bono’s daughter Eve Hewson may be an extremely glamorous young woman now, but she has admitted that as a child, she referred to herself as a boy.
The actress is currently involved with Steven Spielberg’s latest flick Bridge of Spies, and she revealed that as a kid her favourite movie was the director’s smash hit ET – so much so that she wanted to be lead character Elliot.
“It’s so fun to work with Steven. I was obsessed with ET when I was a kid,” she said. “I cut off all my hair and made everyone call me Elliot. I was absolutely a boy for two years of my childhood.
“My mum would say ‘Eve, dinner’s ready’ before going ‘sorry, I mean Elliot, dinner’s ready’,” she told The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
The 24-year-old also opened to the US host about being slagged about her ‘changing accent’, saying:
“I’m Irish. I actually got in a lot of trouble the last time I was on the show from all my friends in Dublin.
“They were like ‘Oh we saw you on Jimmy Fallon, you were really good but you sounded American’.”
