Bono delights fans as he returns to childhood home

Bono was on hand to play Debs date earlier this week when he returned to his childhood home.

The U2 frontman made a trip to Glasnevin’s Cedarwood Road, where he grew up, over the weekend for an upcoming project. However, he may not have been the most important person on the road at that moment.

He came face to face with 18-year-old Lucie Dunne who was just about to head out to her Debs.

So, of course, Bono was quick to pose for pictures with the teen before she was whisked off on her big night out.

Posting a picture of the pair together, Derek Dunne wrote: “Thanks Bono for visiting Lucie the Debutant on Cedarwood Road today. It’s a Beautiful Day.”

It’s believed that Bono was filming at his childhood home as part of a project in connection with his upcoming memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story.

He then popped into his family home, which is owned by the Ryan family, who were more than happy to welcome him.

LJ Ryan shared the moment on social media, with the caption: “Mam was delighted to welcome Bono back to his childhood home & share some wonderful memories with us. Can’t wait to read his book. It was great to meet with him again, & get some photos with the man himself Thanks Bono.”

His memoir is described as “honest and irreverent, intimate and profound” and tracks his life growing up in Ireland to becoming the lead man in one of the biggest bands in the world. The book features 40 chapters, each named after a U2 song. Bono has also created 40 drawings which are scattered throughout the book.

With the book hitting shelves on November 1st.
