Influencer Bonnie Ryan has jetted off to Italy for her wedding weekend and has shared an inside look at the pre-wedding celebrations. The actual wedding will be taking place today, so last night Bonnie, and her fiancé John along with their guests celebrated with La Serenada.
La Serenada is a traditional Italian ceremony on the night before a wedding. During which the bride and groom, perform a short sort of play. The bride will stay inside a room with a balcony pretending to be asleep, while the groom sings to her below.
The bride opening the door and stepping on to the balcony signifies a promise that she will show up at the alter the next day. After which the groom can climb up to the balcony and the couple can share a kiss. For Bonnie and John’s La Serenada, the groom sang Buona Sera.
While the practice isn’t as popular with modern Italian weddings, Bonnie’s sister Lottie also performed one during her wedding, five years ago.
The makeup artist and influencer legally married her longtime love John, back in March during an intimate Dublin ceremony ahead of their Italian wedding.
Opening up about their Dublin celebration, Bonnie said; ““Yesterday myself and John got legally married infront of just our immediate families.”
“It was the most special day Our actual wedding will be early this summer but we feel very lucky to have had a beautiful start to the celebrations yesterday. Thank you for the lovely messages,” she added.
