Aoibhín Garrihy is the proud mother to three gorgeous little girls, four-year-old Hanorah, three-year-old Liobhan and one-year-old Isla.
Of course, she adores being a mother. However, she admits that there were some struggles after the big life change.
Most predominantly was the pressure to return to who she was before having kids.
This wasn’t an external pressure, she admits, explaining that she put it on herself.
Speaking to Amy Huberman on her Mamia and Me podcast alongside sister Ailbhe, she admitted: “I’m getting better, but initially no. I put myself, probably, under too much pressure to hold onto that piece of me before babies.
“I don’t do that anymore. But I remember you and Doireann saying at the time, ‘Just go easy, You don’t have to be back in your jeans, you don’t have to be back working or whatever’.
“Just take the time and don’t feel like you have to put that out there. But I feel like we do. [You think] I’m the exact same person I was before I had a child. That they enhance your life not change your life but actually it does change our lives.”
Speaking earlier this year to VIP Magazine, Aoibhín admitted that the best way to parent is to ”try not to sweat the small stuff because I know how lucky I am.”
“Enjoy them at this age.”
“I really do try because while I know the days are long, the years are short.”
