Aisling O’Loughlin has revealed the most difficult part of her separation from parter Nic Mac Innes. The couple were together for seven years, and have three children together.

The tv star admitted that there are no hard feelings or arguments between herself and her former love, but it doesn’t come without its difficulties.

Speaking to The Herald Aisling said that the toughest part about the situation is the way it is affecting their children, 5-year-old Patrick, 3-year-old Louis and 8-month-old Joseph.

“I think children always want their parents to be together.  The ideal, and what you would always love to give them, is the happily ever after. That’s why you try in the first place.

They are both very invested in their children.

“When it comes to the conclusion that’s not going to happen, the next thing is ‘how do we do this and make sure they are our top priority?’

“Sometimes Patrick will say, ‘Why is Daddy going now?’ He wants him to stay. That’s the hardest part,” she said.

Despite the new family dynamic, Aisling said that they’re making it work, and herself and Nic are much happier this way.

“We’re both very invested in the kids, It’s probably better now to tell you the truth. I think we’re all happier. We have such structure.

“Nic is here every day. It’s not like he bolted, thank God. I would have come after him. We have had a nice break-up,” she said.
