Aidan Turner has revealed that he was involved in an accident while filming for season two of BBC drama Poldark, which left him with a bad head injury.

The Dublin native was shooting a scene where he was lifts his co-star Eleanor Tomlinson, and a freak wave came and hit the boat they were on. The boat then moved suddenly and struck Aidan on the head.

Speaking to the Radio Times Aidan said, “There’s nothing like the Cornish sea at the height of winter for putting you in your place.

He dropped his co-star AND was hit on the head, disaster.

“We were filming me lifting Demelza out of a boat in the actual sea when this huge wave picked up the boat and slammed it into my head.

“I dropped her in the water – not very Ross Poldark. And nobody was coming to see if I’m OK. I was the man injured! But one of the underwater cameramen got cracked as well and he was concussed,” he said.

This sounds like a frightening experience, we’re glad he lived to tell the tale.

Season two of Poldark is set to air on BBC One this Sunday, September 4th, at 9pm.
