Adrian Kennedy has hit out at a listener who sent him an offensive text.
The radio DJ said it was ‘the most vile text’ he’s ever gotten and said it left him visibly shaken.
He also revealed that the text included a threat to his wife and children.
Speaking live on air, Adrian said: “We will be forwarding your text message on to the gardaí because your text is the most vile text I’ve ever, ever received while doing a radio programme in Dublin. I’m shocked.”
“I am horrified that somebody would send in a message like that to me. I’m just here doing a bloody job,” he said, becoming upset.
“How dare you send a message like that in while I’m trying to do a live radio programme?”
The show was cut to a break, as Adrian admitted the text left him shaken and that he needed time to compose himself.
A listener then texted in to reveal that it was sent from his phone, but claims it was not him who wrote the message.
“This is my work phone and I’m really sorry that that scumbag that sent it. I sent him home. I’m so sorry. How dare he find it funny, then knock my phone off. I’m really sorry,” the message said.
The person who owned the phone also spoke live on air, saying: “I apologise. I listen to you all the time. That message they sent was sick”.
In a statement from 98FM said, “We have been in contact with the Gardai at Pearse Street.
“98FM management would like to point out that they take the safety of all their employees very seriously.”
