TV3’s Martin King is leaving his role as weather presenter at the station after almost 20 years. After this month the tv personality will no longer present the 5.30pm weather report.

Best known for his funny and animated forecasts, the much loved weather reporter really enjoys the role, but changes at the station mean that he simply can’t continue for logistic reasons.

Speaking to The Herald he said, “For the month of December I’m going to step out of ‘The 5.30.’ I’ll miss it. It’s been a nice thing to be involved in. We were doing it so differently and it got a lot of attention.”

Changes in the TV3 schedule have been talking place recently as soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale are returning to the station. This means that The Seven O’Clock Show, which Martin fronts, will be moving to the six o’clock slot. Due to the move, the host simply wouldn’t have time to switch between the two shows.
