Jennifer Zamparelli and Bernard O’Shea have opened up about the struggles they endured while filming their upcoming comedy series, Bridget and Eamon.
Jennifer is mum to 11-month-old Florence, while Bernard has an almost two-year-old daughter Olivia, with another baby one on the way in February, and the twosome found it very difficult to be away from their kids while making the show.
Speaking to our sister mag, TVNow, Jennifer said, “I was very lucky in that Lau didn’t take any work on. That allowed me to be away for 14 hour days. But it was hard, it was really hard.
“I don’t mind doing the hours, but the hardest thing is not seeing your child and some times you might not see her for a whole day or night.
“But you can always see there is an end point and you know you’ll have a break.”
The pair worked together on their morning show, Breakfast Republic, and would head straight to the studio to begin filming for their sitcom.
Bernard revealed, “It was tough. We’d see each other at half six in the morning and we’d leave at half seven in the evening.”
He went on to explain that the pair couldn’t get away from each other at all, as their rooms – both on set, and in studio – are so small that “it’s almost as if you’re in a tank commander situation with somebody.”
“It was like Fury, with Brad Pitt, y’know when they’re in the tank?” said Jennifer. “It was like that. Apparently the director put them in the tank for months – that’s how we felt.”
