Hozier has been busy lately, writing his latest single, Better Love, which features in the highly anticipated new Legend of Tarzan film. However, working on a movie soundtrack was new territory for the Bray native, and he found the deadline very demanding.
Speaking on Newstalk he said, “I was in LA around eight weeks ago, and I was just finishing up the last tour commitments. The filmmakers reached out, and because I was in the city at the time I was able to see an early edit of the film.
“It was a tricky one, it was literally the first week where I had no commitments so it was the first chance I’d had to take on a project like that.
“It was eight weeks ago that I’d heard about it and there was a four-week deadline to deliver it mixed and mastered. It’s kind of one of those things where you can’t make any promises on it. If I have a demo in about five days to a week, great.
“It’s hard to force an idea if it doesn’t feel right.”
The Sedated singer recorded his latest hit in the iconic Abbey Road studios, and described the experience as an “absolute joy.”
“We finished off the track in Abbey Road with an orchestral ensemble. Alex Ryan, who is an old friend of mine and a band member, arranged the strings, so it was great to be back in studio with him.”
The Legend of Tarzan hits cinemas nationwide on the 6th of July.
